Payhip has three plans in 2026: a permanent free plan at 5% per sale, Plus at $29/month with a 2% transaction fee, and Pro at $99/month with 0% transaction fees. There is no verification wait on any plan, your store goes live within minutes of signing up, unlike Lemon Squeezy which takes 1 to 4 weeks to approve new accounts. All plans include unlimited products, digital downloads, memberships, courses, and coaching. The only difference between plans is the transaction fee percentage. All three plans include identical features: unlimited digital products, physical products, memberships, online courses, coaching sessions, and built-in affiliate management. There are no product limits, no subscriber limits, and no storage limits on any plan. Stripe and PayPal processing fees (approximately 2.9% + $0.30 per transaction) apply on top of Payhip’s fee on every plan – these are non-negotiable and not absorbed by Payhip.

Note on tax handling: Payhip collects and remits EU and UK VAT automatically on digital product sales. For other markets – including the US, Canada, and Australia – you remain responsible for tax compliance. Payhip is not a full Merchant of Record the way Lemon Squeezy is.

When to Upgrade From Free to Plus

The break-even is $967/month in sales. On the free plan you pay 5% per sale. On Plus you pay $29/month plus 2%, saving 3% per transaction. Divide $29 by 3% and you get $966. Above that amount Plus is cheaper. Most sellers upgrade around $1,000–1,500/month to build comfortable margin above the break-even point.

Example: $1,500/month in sales costs $75 in Payhip fees on the free plan. On Plus: $29 + $30 = $59. Plus saves $16/month at that volume. The saving compounds as sales grow.

When to Upgrade From Plus to Pro

The break-even is $3,500/month in sales. Saving 2% versus Plus at a $70/month cost difference ($99 − $29) means Pro breaks even at $3,500/month. Most sellers upgrade to Pro around $4,000–5,000/month to build margin above break-even.

Example: $5,000/month in sales on Plus costs $29 + $100 = $129. On Pro: $99. Pro saves $30/month. At $10,000/month Pro saves $101/month, $1,212/year.
